Work Parties

The Lake District Ski Club is run entirely by volunteers who keep all of the facilities running during the season. During the Summer months we need some extra help to do essential maintenance.

Our work parties are usually held here on Raise on the first Saturday or Sunday of the month, depending on the weather.

It’s a fun day out on the hill, a great opportunity to put something back into the club and a good excuse for a pint in the sunshine at the Travellers Rest.

This Summer we need to:

  • Replace the old diesel tank with a new 1,000 litre bunded tank
  • Get diesel up to the tow hut and hand-pumped into the fuel tank
  • Clean out the tow hut, number, list and repair all equipment
  • Rewire the safety system
  • (electricans required)
  • Wire up the new inverter starter and install new electric motor for the tow (should enable it to run faster)
  • Repair all damaged snow fencing
  • Routine maintenance on pylons, hangers and bullwheels, includes painting, greasing and replacing rubbers
  • Tow line repairs
  • Install the two new webcams
